Reading stand for the third skill and will be
always discussed. it is a skill that word as a communication way of a written
text between a writer and a reader. In the classroom context of text reading
comprehension. The student take a role
as reader of the text. As seen in many cases of the students in SMPN 3
Banyuwangi. When the learning process sometimes done by working in group, most
of group depended on one until two
students for discussing and finishing the task. The collaborating will have two
bad results. First, the student who never work in the discussion and only get
a free score will have no increase in their reading comprehension. Second, they
will not familiariez their self in collaborating with other. They can not be
brave to share their mind and mind. And keep to be a passive student. Because
of the fects, the collaborating learning process in the classroom should be revised so that it can increase all
the group’s member reading comprehension. One of the techniques in teaching
reading which guides the student for
beings able to collaborate well with others is collaborative strategic reading
(CSR). Klingner and Vaighn (1996), said that goals of CSR are to improve
reading comprehension and increase conceptual learning in ways that maxim ize
student’s involvement. Student roles are the important aspect of CSR because
cooperative learning seems to work best when group members have been assigned a
meaningful task. So it can considered trhat it is a good technique because the
student are not only ancoraged to work together in awell stuctured procedure. Therfore,
considering tries to increase the student’s ready comprehension by using
collaborative strategic reading.
